Develop a consciousness of holiness - Pastor Emmanuel Ogbechie
Ephesians 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24. And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
The holiness of the believer is an act of God. It is an act of the New Creature work of God. God recreated your Spirit in Righteousness and true holiness. Paul writing to the Ephesians Christians admonished them to put on this New Holiness and Righteousness consciousness.
If any man is in Christ he is a new creation. This new creation is described here as the new man and Paul says it was created after the image and likeness of God in righteousness and true holiness.
Christ has made you Holy through the sanctifying work of his blood. Hebrews 1 verse 3 tells us that after He had by himself purged our sins, He sat down on the right hand of the father. Christ's blood flushed your Spirit of all sin and inpurities and recreated that spirit and made it Holy.
This was why Paul wrote the following to the Corinthians:
1Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
1Corinthians 3:17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
Now you are the temple of God. God the Holy Spirit lives in you. He lives in you because you have been made Holy. The temple of God is not trying to be holy rather the temple of God is holy which temple you are.
You have a responsibility now to protect that holiness. This is why Paul said if any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy. It is important to stop defiling yourself if you are busy doing so now.
Our Lord Jesus listed the things that defile a man in the following scriptures:
Matthew 15:19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
20. These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
Everytime you think evil thoughts you defile your holiness. If you commit murders. If you commit adultery and fornication, you defile yourself
Adultery and fornication is when you have sex with somebody who you are not legally married to. By doing so you defile yourself and Paul said if any man defile the temple of God him shall God destroy.
People who are in relationship usually fall into the temptation of fornication because they do not set boundaries which they cannot cross in their relationships. Satan subtly deceives them into thinking that since they are engaged to marry they can have sex. Beware, so you do not fall for such. Being engaged is not synonymous to being married, so you must avoid sex before marriage because it is a sin before God and is called fornication.
This is very serious! As a Christian you must avoid sexual sins, Stealing, lying and speaking blasphemies as they will defile your life.
If you are wearing a white clothe and are aware that you are wearing a white clothe, you naturally become conscious of where you sit.
To overcome sexual sins and other sins in your life constantly tell yourself that you are God's temple and the temple of God is holy and must not be defiled.
